The first thing Neeko owes a family: the conversation opens only when the child touches it to start. Parents can see, in plain terms, exactly when the microphone is live.

Our promise

Your child will never be shown ads or profiled.
Their data is never sold or rented; it's processed only as needed, only with the service providers we disclose.
Your child's data is not used to train AI — this promise is going into our written policy; you'll find that policy here once it's published.
Neeko's world is the frame you set: new topics and abilities open only with your approval, and Neeko doesn't talk to anyone outside that frame.
Our goal is clear: you see what's talked about, and you delete it whenever you want. These flows won't go live until they've been tested end to end.

When does the microphone listen?

Short answer: it doesn't listen until your child touches Neeko and starts a chat. Neeko has no wake word; the microphone never waits in the background. When the chat ends, it switches off again.

The microphone is off. Neeko lives through its expressions, but it can't hear.

On touch

The chat begins; audio is processed in real time. Our goal is that raw audio is never stored — we're verifying this setting one by one before launch.

When the chat ends

The microphone switches off again. The summary landing in your parent app is one of the flows we're testing end to end before launch.

Our red lines

A two-way filter layer keeps violence, fear, and romantic/inappropriate content out of conversations. We won't say 'flawless' until real-device tests are done — we'll publish the results here.
When Neeko doesn't know, it shouldn't make things up — being able to say 'I don't know' is the first item in our hard-question tests.
No game or reward trap designed to make your child use it more. None.
It never opens a new ability or topic without you knowing — you draw the frame.
It doesn't play the 'let's keep this between us' game; alerting you when it senses something sensitive is among the behaviors we test most strictly on the real device.

If the internet goes down, Neeko doesn't die

Neeko's basic signs of life continue without the internet: it sleeps, wakes, and lives through its expressions — this is hardware behavior verified today. Two-way conversation needs a connection; we're testing on the real device that the chat resumes safely once the connection returns. Your child's companion is too precious to be left at the mercy of a server — that's the principle we build by.

The Lifespan Question — let's talk openly about tomorrow

In this category, there have been devices that went silent the day their servers shut down. We're designing Neeko with that risk in mind: a product that feels like a friend to a child owes its family an honest word about longevity, too.

Even if the internet goes down, the basic signs of life continue — it sleeps, wakes, and lives through its expressions (verified today). We're testing on the real device that the chat picks up safely where it left off once the connection returns.

The hardest part of AI products for children is answering safely. So we ask Neeko the same sensitive questions independent auditors ask — and we'll publish the results here openly, good or bad.

The test protocol is ready — results will be run on the first production device and published here.
